Skagit Valley born and raised, Ria has held a passion for the arts her whole life; from a young age, her family cultivated in her a deep love for the visual and performing arts. Especially encouraged by her grandmother, local artist Dorothy Peth, she has been painting and drawing as long as she can remember. While attending Washington State University Honors College, she studied Fine Arts and attained her Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. Ria enjoys experimenting with colors and textures and likes to let the chosen medium help create the piece. The reuse and re-commitment of materials are important to her, and you will find many of her base materials 'repurposed'. Often her art has the ability to be hung and viewed in a variety of directions, providing versatility and a new perspective. This December showing at the Lincoln Art Bar is inspired by her love of music, nature, and giving new life to what may have been considered ‘junk’.
