In the Art Gallery - Through Our Eyes

In the summer of 2007, Botswana Orphan Program, a local non-profit organization, returned to the Botswana village of Mmankgodi with donations and a box of disposable cameras. The children of Reneetswe Orphan Centre received these cameras, a few minutes lesson in photography, and the request that they photograph their lives – the people, places, and things that are meaningful to them.

The children returned these cameras filled with scenes of love and respect, friendship and struggle, and glowing optimism in the face of loss and hardship. A selection of these simple but often striking photos are presented at the Lincoln Theatre this month.
