After serving a five-year sentence for manslaughter, a young woman settles in a small Maine town and takes a job working for the feisty owner of the local grill. Forced to take on even more help after an accident, the owner turns to her nephew's timid wife, and the three slowly develop an unlikely friendship which ultimately transforms the entire town.
