By Volunteer
of the Year Pat Sepulveda

Greetings to Everyone in Lincoln Theatre Land.
I want to say a word of thanks to those who honored me with the
vote for Volunteer of the Year. It is an honor for me! It lets me
know my efforts are seen, recognized and appreciated. I do it for
the same reason our valued members attend this beautiful old theatre.
We love and appreciate it. We come as viewers, members, volunteers,
staff, sponsors and entertainers.
How many of you realize that this theatre belongs to all of us
in a roundabout way? It does not belong to a big, profit-hungry
establishment. You are one of over 1300 members strong who believe
in this landmark. So a special thank you to our dedicated members,
to dedicated fellow volunteers and to staff members.
A few years ago, Vicky Young honored me by asking me to do an internship
here, to begin our video and DVD library. She asked me to sort them
out and set them up alphabetically, adding "treat them like they're
your baby." So I have ever since. It continues to grow. It needs
constant attention. As long as it's used, I will continue to take
care of it.
I am getting an education just from being a volunteer here. I have
witnessed the wonderful local talent we have in this valley of ours,
as well as from other parts of the world. I have learned from the
many documentary movies, dealing with the struggles of mankind;
I saw the people who try to help the helpless, bring education to
those who need it, medicine to those that struggle to get it. I
have learned from the people I have worked with, from people who
were here decades ago when the Lincoln was run commercially by its
former owners, people who come to revisit after decades of being
away. They say it is a good thing we are doing. They are happy that
the Lincoln is still here. They remember being here long ago as
a kid.
We have a hidden treasure here and I am glad to be part of it,
helping with its maintenance.
