In the Art Bar: Cityscapes, photography by Jessamyn Tuttle

September 2011

One of the things I love most about photography is bringing the viewer's attention to something they might not otherwise have noticed, whether it's the texture of pear skin, the pattern of petals in a blooming chrysanthemum, or the crumbling brick in a back alley.

Much of my work as a photographer focuses on food (primarily for my blog Food on the Brain) as well as landscapes, flowers and plants, but cityscapes offer their own sort of beauty: peeling paint, weathered bricks, a flower hanging onto life in a small patch of dirt, the palimpsest of a wall painted over again and again over the course of a century.

I grew up in the Wenatchee Valley of Washington State, moving to Skagit County in 1997. I live in Mount Vernon with my husband, an assortment of cats and a somewhat out of control garden. I do both fine art and commercial photography, and am also a writer and handweaver.

You can view more of my work and purchase digital images and unframed prints in various sizes through my website, www.jessamyntuttle.com. Please contact me if you have any questions about my work or would like to commission a photo or framed print.
