After 40-some years of a rewarding but stressful career in nursing (32 years as an RN at Skagit Valley Hospital), I retired in 2008 and began painting in oil. Where nursing involved control, exactitude, planning and attention to detail, painting allowed me to loosen control, to experiment, to play without restraint or concern for consequences.
I have been drawing all my life, but have had no formal education or training in painting or art. I consider my paintings to be naïve, primitive expressions of my love of life, family and friends, living in the glorious Pacific Northwest, and of the human desire to create.
