In the Art Bar: Kristin Loffer Theiss

Kristin Loffer Theiss moved to Mount Vernon when she was three. She began her college education at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA where she received a B.A. in Fine Art with an emphasis in drawing and painting. She then drastically changed her surroundings and moved across country to attend graduate school at the School of Visual Arts in NYC where she received a M.F.A. in Studio Art in 1996.

A reception with the artist will be held on Friday, January 2nd before, during and after the films.

Art has been a lifelong passion, however intentions to make art in earlier years got derailed by life events. Although Dee began her training in art and fashion, she graduated with a degree in Political Science. Dee returned to art later in life and studied art at a local college in Maryland.

In the Art Bar: Linda Demetre

December 1st - 31st
 
Linda Demetre is a figurative artist painting with an impressionistic style.  She is known for using a gesture, such as the turn of the head, to evoke an emotion that sets the mood.  Women in solitary situations, Hopper style, or couples interacting are common themes.  Linda uses oils and oil bars, layering to create a color infused technique. 
 

Skagit Valley Food Co-op 4% Friday

Once a year, the Community Relations Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Skagit Valley Food Co-op accepts and reviews the applications of non-sectarian, non-partisan charitable community groups for participation in 4% Friday, a Community Shopping Day. Groups chosen, one per month for the calendar year, are honored with 4% of the day’s gross receipts at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op.

It’s the time of year for Lincoln volunteers , staff and board members to get together to celebrate the season and, most importantly, recognize the folks who’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty with their help to support this historic non-profit cinematic and performing arts theatre.
 

Volunteer Opportunites Night

Friday, Nov 7, 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

People interested in learning about volunteering at the Lincoln Theatre are invited to attend a special early evening orientation on Friday, November 7th from 6:00 – 7:00 PM.  More than 300 people volunteer over 4500 hours each year to keep the Lincoln open and working well.  You’ll find out about the various kinds of work that volunteers do and what training and time commitment it takes to fulfill the responsibilities.  Opportunities range from concessions stand worker to poster distribution to helping with membership drives and special events.  Volunteers must pass a WSP background check.

Public Meeting on the Skagit watershed

Rural water meeting slated for October 1 at Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon
Skagit County and the Washington State Department of Ecology will host a public meeting to discuss progress toward rural water solutions in the Skagit watershed in the wake of last year’s state Supreme Court ruling impacting water use at the Lincoln Theatre on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
