In the Art Bar: Steinar Kristoffersen

As an artist, I try to choose subjects that inspire me and add life to the painting process. My hope is that the emotion and energy I experience while painting will be felt by the viewer. While my goal is always to create a beautiful image, I am equally interested in the traces of inspiration, emotion, struggle, resolution, and satisfaction that are revealed through physical brush strokes left on the canvass.

In the Art Bar - Paul Blum

After 40-some years of a rewarding but stressful career in nursing (32 years as an RN at Skagit Valley Hospital), I retired in 2008 and began painting in oil.  Where nursing involved control, exactitude, planning and attention to detail, painting allowed me to loosen control, to experiment, to play without restraint or concern for consequences.

In the Art Bar - Mike Coslor

The greatest joy is to be able to release one's creativity in some way.  For me, the benefits of allowing my creativity to flow are multiplied because I have felt the pain of being blocked, stagnated, when I was not able to use the abilities I was born with.  When the clouds parted and I found myself with a purpose again, with the muse singing, with things growing under my hands, I began to feel I had arrived home, regardless of the outward circumstances of life in which I found myself. An urgency was born in which I just feel that I have no more time to waste.
