I was born and grew up in Western Washington. Before recently moving to Mount Vernon, I lived in Eastern Washington for more than 35 years.
I spent my childhood summers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where I discovered my love for all critters and the beauty of nature. I grew up fascinated with mammals but only in my thirties did I discover the wonder and accessibility of birds. Now I am fully addicted to finding and viewing birds. As a long-haul truck driver for Allied Van Lines, I have had the good fortune of being able to travel across this nation and discover the various birds of America’s different geographic areas. I hope to travel the world and photograph and experience as many different species as possible.

Margaret started painting in high school and loved every minute of it. She’d had a 38-year absence from her art studies, when in 2010, she took a watercolor class from Ruby Martin in La Conner, and rediscovered her passion. Since then, she's been busy painting whenever her schedule permits.
Before Margaret starts a painting, she thinks about the "invisible" colors hidden in each scene; that's part of the fun for her.She and her husband, Ray, love to travel, and she's inspired by the colors, scenes, people and food during those travels.

Growing up in the gorgeous Pacific Northwest, I have always appreciated the varied and abundant bird life we are fortunate enough to be surrounded by. The skills and artistry of our native raptors, waterfowl and backyard songbirds have inspired me to honor those feathered friends in my own artwork.
