We are so pleased to display work by Ria Peth Vanderpool in our Art Bar this month! You may know Ria's name from the many musical performances she has done in the Valley with TAG and ACT. Now you can see some of her other talents on our walls.
Skagit Valley born and raised, Ria has held a passion for the arts her whole life; from a young age her family cultivated in her a deep love for the visual and performing arts. Especially encouraged by her grandmother, local artist Dorothy Peth, she has been painting and drawing as long as she can remember. While attending Washington State University Honors College, she studied Fine Arts and attained her Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. Over time Ria has been inspired primarily by nature, experimenting with the colors and textures of the valley in which she grew up. The reuse and re-commitment of materials is important to her, and you will find many of her base materials 'reused', which brings both an interesting history and inspires new existence. Created using primarily acrylic paint, these pieces, both abstract and figurative in nature, provide a glimpse into how Ria sees the beautiful world around her.
