Come learn about the rush to build new terminals to receive crude oil by rail in Washington and Oregon, what it means for Mount Vernon, and what you can do about it. These terminals, some already built some proposed, plan to welcome both Bakken crude (noted for exploding in Quebec, North Dakota & Alabama in the last year, with 47 tragically killed in Quebec) and potentially tar sands (noted for sinking when spilled in aquatic environments). With a push by the American Petroleum Institute to lift the ban on US crude exports, we have to ask: is this really for us?

The evening will weave together music and information in an effort to get the public better informed about the size and nature of this new concern.
